FAQs

Schroth, Telehealth and other frequently asked questions

What do I need for a Telehealth visit?

When you book an appointment, you will be sent a link to a zoom meeting with a meeting code and password.  This is specific for each appointment.  You will need a smartphone, tablet or computer (a phone or computer work best).  Have some books available so you can prop the device so you don't have to hold it while trying to do an exercise.  A private space is also recommended.
It is also a good idea to wear comfortable clothing and for the girls, either a sports bra or bathing suit top under your shirt when it is time for us to examine your back.

How many visits do I need?

Each person is evaluated and a plan is designed to meet that person's needs.  We take into consideration age, risk of progression, severity of curve, pain, your level of commitment, how you are progressing and distance you are traveling to see me in person. We generally have an intial evaluation and 3-4 follow ups in the first 4-6 weeks and then as we progress the exercises and you are working to incorporate what you have leaned into your activities of daily living, we may increase the time between visits.

Do I need a doctor’s referral?

A doctor's referral is not required, but encouraged.  Often, insurance companies want to see a prescription for services in order to reimburse for therapy.  Often we need an up to date xray which would need to be ordered by a physician.  If you are having difficulty or need a recommendation for a physician, feel free to contact us.

What types of health insurance do you accept?

As a specialty practice, Capital Area Scoliosis Specialists is considered out- of-network with all insurance companies but you may be able to submit proof of services and payment to your insurance company for reimbursement using your out of network benefits. Reimbursement is not guaranteed and we can assist with getting you the appropriate paperwork but cannot submit the bill to your insurance.
